Course Description

Learn to be a leader who mentors and motivates others. Gain dive knowledge, supervision abilities and become a role model to divers around the world. Share your passion for scuba diving by becoming a PADI Divemaster. As a divemaster youโ€™ll supervise scuba diving activities and assist with scuba classes. PADI Divemaster is the first step in your diving career.

To enrol on the Divemaster course you must first: be a PADI Rescue Diver with 40 logged dives be at least 18 years of age have completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care course in the last 24 months have a medical statement signed by a physician in the last 12 months If you are missing any of the above just get in contact with us and we can assist with advice on how to obtain the missing requirements. If you are short on dives why not book some diving with us?

Scuba Ts have trained numerous divemasters over the years.ย  The standard course is short and if you want it done quick we can train you no problem.

I you want experience and at the end of the course be able to handle any student in our Scottish waters then taking out an Internship with us for a season April to November will give you excellent experience in the water and assisting on courses.ย  We offer a fuel rebate for assisting on courses and also free air.

Please be aware you NEED to be fit and have a good work ethic to do this course.ย  The course involves lifting tanks, assisting students, carrying bags etc.ย  It also has long days diving.

 

Academic

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, waterskills exercises and workshops and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities.

Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster.
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers.
  • Diver safety and risk management.
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills.
  • Business of diving and your career.
  • Awareness of the dive environment.
  • Dive site setup and management Mapping an open water site.
  • Conducting dive briefings.
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive.
  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course.
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading.
  • Discover Local Diving programs.

Prerequisites

  • ย Be a PADI Rescue Diver.
  • Have completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care in the last 24 months.
  • Have logged 40 dives at least to start the course.
  • Have a medical statement signed by a physician in the last 12 months.

Equipment

As a dive professional, youโ€™ll want to have all your basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer, a dive knife, and at least two surface signalling devices. During practical skills exercises, like underwater mapping and search and recovery, youโ€™ll use a compass, floats, marker buoys, lift bags and slates. Your PADI Instructor may suggest additional gear that will be useful throughout your diving career.
